Dr. Joyce A. Balnaves
DVM, CVMA, CCRT
Dr. Balnaves earned her Bachelor of Science (with high honor) in 1982 from Michigan State University. In 1986 she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (with honor) from Michigan State University. Dr. Balnaves has spent considerable time on post-graduate training in pain management and canine rehabilitation. She received her training and certification in veterinary medical acupuncture (CVMA) from Colorado State University (CSU) veterinary college. She received her certified canine rehabilitation therapist (CCRT) certification from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. She has also attended the Medical Massage and Manual Therapy course taught at CSU. While at CSU, she spent time on the Acupuncture and Pain Management Service. She has received additional training in Class IV therapeutic laser usage. She is a member of the International Veterinary Association for Pain Management (IVAPM), American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians (AARV), Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and Southeast Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.
We strive to make our center a warm and inviting area where pets like to come. The large rehab area features an underwater treadmill, therapy pool and therapeutic exercise area.
